Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Lucy: Dog Translator handles information in connection with the app.
Information Lucy accesses
Lucy accesses device camera and microphone capabilities when you choose features that use them. The app may also receive standard technical, device, and app information through the services described below.
Camera and microphone
Lucy requests camera access for the Reaction Camera feature, which records videos of your dog’s reactions. Reaction videos are initially stored locally in Lucy’s app cache. Lucy does not upload these videos to its own server or to its analytics, purchase, or crash-reporting services. Lucy does not explicitly delete reaction videos from the app cache; cache cleanup is managed by the operating system. You may choose to save a reaction video to your Photos library.
Lucy uses microphone access for Listen & Translate and for audio included in Reaction Camera videos. For Listen & Translate, audio is recorded temporarily in the app cache and processed on your device. Lucy uses recording duration and loudness measurements to generate the playful translation; the recorded audio itself is not uploaded to a server or AI service. Temporary Listen & Translate audio is normally deleted after processing, and cleanup is also attempted when you cancel, leave the screen, send the app to the background, or when recording stops unexpectedly. A temporary cache file could remain if the app crashes, is force-terminated, the operating system interrupts cleanup, or deletion fails.
Photos, media, and sharing
Lucy requests write-only Photos or video-library access only when you choose Save Video. Lucy saves the newly recorded reaction video to your Photos library and does not read or browse your existing photos or videos. Lucy does not use a photo picker in the current production flow. Videos saved to Photos remain there until you delete them. Lucy does not maintain its own persistent private media library.
When you choose to share a reaction video, Lucy uses your operating system’s share sheet. You choose the destination application. Lucy itself does not upload the video and does not know or record the final recipient or external destination. Lucy does not send the video URI, sharing destination, recipient, or video contents to PostHog. Once you choose an external application through the share sheet, that application’s own privacy practices govern its handling of the video.
Analytics
Lucy uses PostHog for anonymous product analytics. PostHog Session Replay is disabled. Lucy does not send recorded audio or video contents, video URIs, sharing destinations, or recipients to PostHog. Lucy’s explicit PostHog analytics do not send names, email addresses, contacts, file URIs, microphone URIs, translation contents, or recording contents.
Crash reporting
Lucy uses Sentry for crash and error monitoring. Lucy’s Sentry configuration does not send default personal information, and Lucy does not explicitly send recorded audio, recorded video, photos, media paths, or translation contents to Sentry. Sentry may still process standard technical, device, and app information needed to diagnose errors, according to its own privacy policy.
Purchases
Lucy uses RevenueCat for in-app purchase and subscription management. RevenueCat and the applicable App Store or Google Play store may process identifiers and purchase information required to complete, validate, restore, and manage purchases, according to their own policies.
Third-party services
RevenueCat is used for in-app purchase and subscription management. RevenueCat and the applicable App Store or Google Play store may process identifiers and purchase information required to complete, validate, restore, and manage purchases. Read the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
PostHog is used for anonymous product analytics to understand app usage and improve Lucy. Lucy uses explicit analytics events, and PostHog Session Replay is disabled. Lucy’s explicit PostHog analytics do not send recorded audio or video contents, names, email addresses, contacts, file URIs, microphone URIs, translation contents, or recording contents. PostHog may also process standard technical, device, and app information through its SDK. Read the PostHog Privacy Policy.
Sentry is used for crash and error monitoring to diagnose technical problems and improve app reliability. Sentry may process standard technical, device, and app information through its SDK. Read the Sentry Privacy Policy.
Data retention
Listen & Translate recordings are temporary files stored in the app cache. Lucy attempts to delete them after translation processing, on cancellation, when you leave the screen, when the app backgrounds during the interaction, and after relevant recorder-stop failures. Deletion may not succeed if the app crashes, is force-terminated, the operating system interrupts cleanup, or deletion fails.
Reaction videos are initially stored in the app cache. Lucy does not explicitly delete cached reaction videos after use; cache retention and cleanup are controlled by the operating system, without a specific retention period. If you choose Save Video, the video is copied to your Photos library and remains there until you delete it. Lucy does not maintain its own persistent private media library.
Lucy also stores limited local usage counters in the app’s application storage to enforce free-use limits. These counters are not personal profiles or user accounts. Lucy has no user-account system.
PostHog, Sentry, and RevenueCat may retain information they process according to their respective policies and service configurations. RevenueCat is used for purchases, entitlements, subscriptions, and restore behavior. No fixed retention period is stated here. See the linked PostHog, Sentry, and RevenueCat privacy policies for more information.
Deletion requests
You can delete videos saved to your Photos library using your device. Operating-system cache management controls cleanup of cached reaction videos. Temporary Listen & Translate audio is handled through Lucy’s cleanup behavior described above. Contacting Lucy at support@pearbasket.com does not guarantee remote deletion of data that Lucy does not control or cannot identify. Deletion or retention of information processed by third-party services may be governed by the relevant provider and applicable privacy rights.
